Message of Solidarity from Spain for the Republic Workers

Dear comrades:

We heard about your struggle by reading marxist.com and the website of the Workers International League. We are shipbuilding workers in Ferrol, the main city in a shipbuilding area in northwest Spain. More than 4,000 people work in the shipyard Navantia, the largest shipyard in Spain. There were 14,000 shipbuilding workers fifteen years ago. Thousands of jobs have been lost. We are also militant tradeunionists of the CC.OO. (Workers Commissions), the largest Spanish union.

You and us, and the workers all over the world, are facing the same attacks: casual jobs, lower wages, benefits cuts, redundancies, closures, etc. The rich are getting richer, and the workers are getting poorer. Once again, it is clear than the struggle is the only way for us to defend our class interests, because if you don't fight, you always lose. But the working class must organise and fight at the same level as the bosses. So, workers need to strengthen our international links in order to stop the bosses' offensive and get our socialist goal. Keep the fight on.

Conocimos su lucha a través de marxist.com y de la web de la Liga Internacional de los Trabajadores . Somos trabajadores de los astilleros de Ferrol, la ciudad cabecera de una comarca con una gran tradición de construcción naval en el noroeste de España. Más de 4.000 personas trabajamos en el astillero Navantia, el más grande de España. Hace 15 años éramos 14.000. Miles de empleos se han perdido. También somos sindicalistas combativos de CC.OO. (Comisiones Obreras), el mayor sindicato español.

Vosotros, nosotros y todos los trabajadores del mundo afrontamos los mismos ataques: empleos precarios, bajos salarios, recortes en las prestaciones sociales, despidos, cierres de empresas, etc. Los ricos se hacen más ricos, mientras los obreros nos hacemos más pobres. Una vez más, vuelve a estar claro que la lucha es el único camino para defender nuestros intereses porque si no luchas, pierdes siempre. Pero la clase obrera debe organizarse y luchar al mismo nivel que los empresarios. Por tanto, los trabajadores necesitamos fortalecer nuestros vínculos internacionales para poder frenar la ofensiva patronal y conseguir nuestra meta socialista. Ánimo y seguid luchando.
