If America Should Go Socialist

Often times, as socialists, we hear that what we are fighting for is ‘utopian’. Other times, we hear that socialism is nothing more than what they have in Scandinavia. Or that Venezuela or the USSR shows socialism doesn’t work. There are many interesting questions about historical attempts at socialism. But in this event, we are focused on how socialism would work in the United States today. In this country, we have more economic resources than country in human history, certainly more than any country that has attempted socialism. How would it look to have workers’ control of industry and national democratic planning of the economy in such an advanced country? What could be accomplished?
